Take steps to prevent further loss to your home or building:

• Attend to injured people

• Do not do anything that negates safety

• Take a few photos

• Temporarily patch roof with a tarp

• Remove downed trees from structures

• Board up broken windows

• Call a plumber to fix broken pipes

• Protect personal property from the elements

Note: These costs are reimbursable under most policies, so keep the receipts.
